SEND

At Epsom Primary and Nursery Schoool, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to achieve their full potential, regardless of any additional needs or disabilities they may have.  We are fully committed to offering an inclusive education where every child is valued, supported and included in the life of the school.

High quality teaching that is adapted and personalised will meet the individual needs of the majority of children.  Some children need educational provison that is additional to or different from this.  This is special educational provision under Section 21 of the Children and Families Act 2014.

All our teachers see themselves as teachers of SEN and consistently follow the 'assess, plan, do, review' approach to making sure they are providing exactly the right provision for each child, supported by the school's SENCo and outside agencies where appropriate.

Our Quality First Provision document outlines some of the additional support you might typically expect to see in our mainstream classrooms:

Where children are in need of additional support beyond that provided in the classroom, there are a range of interventions that can extend or support pupils. These are carefully monitored to ensure they are effective in helping children to progress in their learning and adapt to meet the needs of our cohort on a termly basis.

Parents are central to the process of enabling pupils fulfil their potential. Parents are actively encouraged to meet with their child’s class teacher or SENCo to share any concerns they may have, and to engage with the school in order to help their child overcome the barriers to their learning.

To find out more information about our school SEND provision, please read our SEND policy and our SEND information report:

Local authorities are required to publish a ‘local offer’ which is intended to provide information about the provision available to children with special educational needs and/or disabilities in the local area. You can find this here https://www.surreycc.gov.uk/children/support-and-advice/local-offer

The Treehouse

At Epsom Primary School, we are also very lucky to have an ASD Centre called The Treehouse. Admission is via Surrey SEND Admissions only and unfortunately there is no access to the Treehouse for children who are in our mainstream school.

If your child has an EHCP and may benefit from the ASD centre, please follow this link the-treehouse-asd-centre for more information.
