Transformation
Over the past 12 months, we have invested £1.5 million in enhancing our school environment, making a significant difference to our learning spaces and facilities. Pupils and staff now learn and work in modern, well-designed areas that make effective use of up-to-date technology.
Every classroom and shared space has been thoughtfully renovated, transforming our older Edwardian buildings into a series of beautiful, natural learning environments. Our approach draws on research into biophilic design, which shows that images of nature can have a positive impact on wellbeing by helping to create calm, purposeful spaces. Throughout Epsom Primary, large-scale photographs of local woodlands, bluebell woods, and streams contribute to a peaceful atmosphere, with classrooms intentionally clutter-free, supporting learners to focus without visual distractions.
From September 2025, our Early Years provision has been relocated within the school, offering direct access to the field, growing area and pond. Bringing all Early Years children together in this central location ensures smoother transitions and a gentle introduction to school life. Children also benefit from frequent opportunities for forest school activities and time immersed in nature.
Inclusivity has been a key priority throughout our redevelopment. New additions include a ‘Challenge and Support’ room, a sensory room, and a nurture hub. A further space dedicated to interventions and cooking activities will open in the spring term.
Our new visitor entrance, business support offices and meeting room are now complete. These areas enable us to serve our community more efficiently, maintain high safeguarding standards, and provide a welcoming environment for families and professionals.
The improvements will continue into 2026. In January, we will open a brand-new library at the heart of the school, followed by the creation of a new staff area and outdoor courtyard.
Our pupils and staff are incredibly proud of our transformed environment, and we look forward to welcoming you to experience it for yourself.
