At Epsom Primary, we believe Physical Education and Sport plays an essential role in children’s development and has the potential to change young children.
As part of the Olympic legacy, the government is providing additional funding to improve provision of Physical Education (P.E) and sport in Primary schools.
The funding is ring fenced and therefore can only be spent on improving the provision of P.E and sport in schools
2015 - 2016
We purchased a new planning scheme to support teachers in ensuring there is appropriate progression between year groups. In addition this has provided development points, techniques to help the quality of teaching and the development of the children’s ability.
10 children from Years 5 and 6 were sent on ‘Sports crew’ training, where they learnt to lead different sporting activities during the lunchtimes and PE lessons.
Other money was spent on transport for our tournaments and sporting events.
External coaches – Breakfast and after school club used sport coaches to provide a sporting activity and helped to enhance the children’s understanding and development. Also an external Kwik cricket coach worked with Year 5 teachers and pupils.
