World Book Day 2021
Updated: Mar 10
On Thursday 4th March, we celebrated World Book Day! Of course, this year looked a little different than usual, but we made sure this much anticipated event was still packed full of exciting activities to give the children the chance to celebrate their love for reading, whether at home or in school.
This year's theme and book for the whole school was 'Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth' by Oliver Jeffers.
There were some fantastic pieces of work produced across the school based on the theme from both at home and in the classroom. Our display board is now filled with pupil's work from across the school.
There was lots of activity on the 'school virtual reading wall', with pupils adding their favourite book recommendations and reviews.
Staff members at EPS created video stories for the children to watch throughout the day with their peers or families. We also hosted the 'Masked Reader' game, where members of staff disguised themselves and read extracts from their favourite books. The challenge was to correctly identify who the readers were, which was great fun for all involved!
Pupils were also given a £1 book token to use at their nearest participating bookseller. You can view more information here: https://www.worldbookday.com/
Thank you for joining us for World Book Day. It was so lovely walking around the school and seeing each class enjoy the activities that were prepared, along with the photos and messages that we received from children learning from home.
