Epsom Primary School had its last OFSTED inspection in November 2007. Here is a summary of our report.

We are very pleased to give you the summary of our Ofsted inspection with comments from the full report. A copy of the full report is available at the office if you wish to have one.

 

We are very pleased with the number of “OUTSTANDING” Grade 1 judgements the inspectors gave us particularly in the areas where we have worked hard to develop over the past 4 years and overall the team considered us as Grade 2 “GOOD”

Epsom Primary is a good and very inclusive school

  • It has improved considerably over the last few years
  • Parents are overwhelmingly positive about the school
  • The multicultural and inclusive nature of the school is a real strength
  • The very effective leadership of the Head teacher and his Senior team provide clear direction and vision for the school
  • All children work in a harmonious atmosphere and strive to achieve their best
  • The standards reached by children at the end of KS1 have improved year on year and are now ABOVE the National average
  • The achievement of all groups of pupils including those with English as a second language is good
  • Children’s personal development and well being is outstanding
  • Pupils are well behaved in the classroom and around the school and are very polite at all times
  • Teachers are enthusiastic and provide well-structured and interesting lessons. Explaining things carefully to pupils
  • Teaching assistants provide good support in lessons
  • Very effective assessment strategies have been put in place
  • Marking is particularly good
  • Pupils are set challenging targets
  • The curriculum is good and enriched by a range of extra curricular activities and special events
  • The care guidance and support of pupils are good, children report they feel safe in school
  • The school’s governance is excellent
  • The Foundation stage is satisfactory and children make satisfactory progress
  • The school is very effective in the way it listens to its pupils voice
  • Bullying is quickly resolved and children understand how to stay safe
  • Pupil’s very positive attitude along with their developing values, prepares them well for secondary school and their future economic well-being

 

Areas for us to work on:

  • Improve assessment procedures across the Foundation stage ensuring that pupils have greater planned opportunities for independent learning
  • Ensure the achievement of boys and girls is equal
